Through our ongoing partnership with Columbia County Current, Beach & Bartolo is proud to highlight the events that showcase the natural beauty of our region. In September 2019, cyclists from across the Northeast gathered for the 7th Annual Roe Jan Ramble Bike Tour.
Cycling for a Cause: The Harlem Valley Rail Trail
The Roe Jan Ramble is more than just a bike ride; it is a volunteer-run mission to support and extend the Harlem Valley Rail Trail. In 2019, all donations encouraged by the ride were dedicated to a vital goal: connecting the paved bicycle and pedestrian path from Copake Falls to Hillsdale and continuing further north.
Built on the historic railbed of the old Harlem Line of the New York Central Railroad, the trail serves as a scenic artery for bikers, joggers, and walkers throughout Columbia County.
Six Routes Through the Taconic Foothills
The 2019 Ramble offered six distinct routes—ranging from a family-friendly 10-mile loop to a challenging new 100km (62.5 mile) course. Participants traveled along quiet country roads, experiencing some of the most breathtaking scenery in the Hudson Valley and the Taconic foothills.
