First, typically the seller, through the sale of their homes, will be paying the fee for your agent from the proceeds of that sale. Secondly, agents usually live in the area they are working in and therefore know home values. Thirdly, they are licensed in the state they are working and are required by law to put your interests first, this is called their fiduciary duty. And lastly, they know how to negotiate.
