Like so many other industries, technology has impacted the way the real estate business functions today.I believe it’s far better for everyone, starting with the consumer. In the past, real estate agents had control of all the information that buyers needed when they began searching for a home. Prior to the advances with the internet, a potential buyer would go to the local newspaper or real estate magazines in search of real estate ads. Important details would too often be left out, like the address, with the hope the customer would call the agent. Often reluctantly, consumers would call to find that they need to give out their contact information before an agent would be willing to answer any questions. Sometimes, not a pleasant exchange. Fortunately, all that is over. Basically all the data available to agents is now online and available to consumers on sites such as: Realtor.com, Zillow and Trulia. These sites download the Listing information directly from the local multiple listing services, making the search for homes so much easier. Just about all real estate sites have their own search engines within the site to make it even more user friendly. Today better informed buyers are going to demand better educated and professional agents to help them sort out all the data and to guide them through the purchasing processing, allowing for much better purchasing decisions and a smoother transaction.
