In a significant step toward regional recovery, the Columbia County Comeback Committee held its inaugural public meeting in May 2020. Formed by the Columbia County Board of Supervisors, this committee was created to serve as a vital lifeline for local business owners navigating the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Navigating the "New Normal"
The primary mission of Columbia Comeback was to act as a centralized resource, helping our diverse business community—from agriculture to retail—adapt and respond to evolving state guidelines. While the exact timeline for reopening remained uncertain at the time, the committee’s goal was to ensure that Columbia County was prepared to hit the ground running the moment the "pause" lifted.
A Transparent Community Process
To maintain transparency and encourage community involvement, the first session was made available to the public via a live broadcast. This allowed residents and business owners to hear directly from the experts at the Columbia Economic Development Corporation (CEDC).

Why This Matters Today
The work started by the Comeback Committee in 2020 laid the foundation for the resilient, thriving marketplace we see today in towns like Chatham, Hudson, and Hillsdale. At Beach & Bartolo, we are proud to have supported these initiatives that kept our local economy strong and our communities connected.
