At Beach & Bartolo, we believe that a "home" is defined by the community that surrounds it. In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Copake Grange stepped up to prove just how strong our local bonds are.
A Grassroots Response to a Global Crisis
In a proactive response to the emerging health crisis, the Copake Grange launched a dedicated matching program. Their mission was simple but vital: connect able-bodied volunteers with individuals who were homebound and required assistance with essential needs.
The initiative focused on two primary areas of support:
-
Grocery Delivery: Ensuring high-risk neighbors had access to fresh food without leaving their homes.
-
Prescription Pickups: Coordinating the safe delivery of necessary medications from local pharmacies.
The Spirit of the Grange
In true community fashion, the program was open to everyone. Non-Grange members were welcomed as volunteers, and assistance was extended to any resident in need, regardless of their affiliation with the organization. This effort was coordinated by Granger Janet Mackin, who served as the central point of contact for the town of Copake.
Why Community Matters
Seeing organizations like the Grange jump into action is one of the many reasons we are proud to serve the Town of Copake. It is this spirit of "neighbors helping neighbors" that makes Columbia County such a special place to live, especially during challenging times.
