The true measure of a community isn’t found in its architecture or its landscapes—though we have plenty of both—but in how it responds when others are in need.
In the wake of historic challenges, like the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, we are often reminded that we belong to something much larger than ourselves. While Columbia County was spared the severe damage seen elsewhere, the "Chatham Spirit" was in full swing. Through the efforts of our local Board of Realtors and dedicated residents, our community immediately looked for ways to help.
I still remember the story of Jonathan, a young man from Chatham, and his girlfriend Trisha. Without hesitation, they volunteered their time and their van, driving down to Staten Island to deliver a cargo of food, supplies, clothing, and blankets to those who had lost everything.
Why We Choose to Live Here It’s at times like this—when the needs of others rise above our own—that we are at our best. Whether you are a lifelong resident or looking to make Columbia County your new home, you aren’t just buying a piece of property; you are joining a community that shows up for one another.
No matter where we choose to live, it is the people around us who turn a house into a home. We are proud to work and live in a place where "neighbor" is an action verb.
